Robert Kanyusik holds a MFA in printmaking from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, with a year of study in Rome, a MA in painting from St Cloud State University, and a BA in art from St. Johns University.  He has taught at Nicolet College, University of Wisconsin Platteville, Pensacola Community College and St Cloud State University. Kanyusik taught courses in painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and art history, including an annual art history course in London.

Kanyusik has exhibited his work nationally and internationally. He has received numerous awards for his teaching and his artwork.  For his work in art education the Laird Leadership Foundation honored him. The State of Wisconsin Assembly officially cited him for his work on the Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans Memorial, at the Highground was designed and sculpted by Kanyusik. It consists of four life-size bronze figures that reflect the cost of the war. Currently he is editing twenty-year-old archived footage of Menominee artist Jim Frechette, Jr. into a video for the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point Museum of Natural History, Menominee Clans Committee.

Kanyusik created the Nicolet College Gallery and was one of the originators of the Northern National Art Competition. The Northern National Art Competition has existed for 28 years and draws significant art work from across the United States.
